While we all weather the storm with the coronavirus, the IMS is offering a range of online courses that you can take from the comfort of your own home. We have chosen subjects that we think will be particularly useful at this time, helping you stay healthy and helping families to eat, exercise and live well.

All classes are live so you can ask questions and receive individual guidance.

Natural Health Courses Online

If you are stuck at home this is an ideal time to learn some new skills to increase your health and strengthen your body’s defences to infections. We know that some of you will be busier than ever caring for others or keeping businesses afloat, but if you find you have more time than usual, this could be an ideal time for reassessing your habits and upping your whole approach to looking after your health. Learning a healthier way of eating and living can last you a lifetime.

Courses that bring us together and boost our health

These courses will be live just as if you were here together in a room. We use video conferencing, so that the teacher and everyone on a course can see each other and speak to the group. So you can ask questions and at times we will have discussions in the groups between all participants.

In all our courses we want to give individual guidance to all the participants. We are not only teaching some great knowledge but we also very much want to help you apply this practically in your own lives.

How these courses work practically

For each course you will be emailed a set of course notes with essential information and recipes. Each class will be recorded so you can re-watch it later, or if you miss a class you can watch it at another convenient time.

To join these courses you will need a computer or other device and be in a place with a reasonable strength broadband internet connection. When you have signed up for a course, you will be sent a link to put into your search engine to connect you to the Zoom video conferencing. You will have to follow a few steps to register with Zoom (no cost involved) and then you are in!

The first class of all courses will start 15 minutes early to give anyone not already familiar and registered with Zoom to do this. If you have problems, please email or ring the school so we can help you get connected. We have run a number of online courses before and most people find it a simple process to join. If you are very new to this, you could register with Zoom beforehand, and read more on how it works.

We realise that many people will be struggling financially during these times, if paying the full course fee up front is difficult for you, and a monthly payment scheme would be easier, please email us for details.

How To Strengthen Your Immune System

An in-depth course on how our body defends itself from a western scientific and Oriental medicine point of view, and the many steps you can take to strengthen your immune system.

Our body’s defences depend on a number of different organs and systems of the body, and this course looks at each of these and the simple steps we can take to strengthen our immune systems.

This whole body approach to strengthening our immunity creates deep, robust health, and is the most effective way of warding off infections or reducing the severity of symptoms should a virus or bacteria get inside the body.

Healthy Plant Based Cooking Courses

This course will show you how to create healthy plant based meals using nutritious whole foods. Learn how to make healthy foods look amazing and taste fantastic!

The classes will cover cooking main meals, soups and desserts, along with tasty sauces, dressings and snacks, and a range of healthy breakfasts.

Six Steps to Wellbeing

6 two hour classes, 130 pages of course notes and recipes.   Monday evenings 7-9pm.  May 18, 25, June 1, 8, 15, 22.   £300

This in-depth course with school principal Oliver Cowmeadow will take you though six key areas of your health, and how to heal a range of health problems and emotional difficulties in each.

The course is limited to 10 participants to give everyone time for personal questions and guidance. You will receive over 120 pages of notes, recipes and practical exercises for you to use at home.

Many people have found this course to be a turning point in experiencing greater health and wellbeing. This course can also be taken as a prerequisite for joining our first year Holistic Nutrition for Body and Soul course.

Introduction to Shiatsu

Learn how to give a full body workout using the healing power of your hands!

Shiatsu is a form of bodywork or massage that originally came from Japan. It uses gentle pressure and stretches to relax tense muscles, bring fresh energy to tired and weak places in the body, and generally bring more energy and vitality to the whole person!

Originally shiatsu was used in the home between family members, and was later developed into a powerful therapy to treat a variety of health problems. If you are confined to home with your family, why not learn how to give shiatsu to each other to help relax and de-stress each other!

Shiatsu is received wearing light clothing, and all you need is a soft futon or mat or blankets with some cushions to make the receiver comfortable. The 10 lessons will teach you step by step to give a full body shiatsu to relax and rejuvenate all parts of the body.

Our Spiritual Journey

Beyond our physical, emotional and mental selves our soul or unique spirit is on a long, long, long journey of experience, learning and development. Through many lifetimes we gather wisdom and become closer to spirit.

This course will look at the cycle of life, how we move through countless lifetimes and times between earthly lives, and the big transitions of birth and death. The purpose of these studies is to deepen our appreciation for life, and to make the most of our present precious lifetime, as well as how to help others through the big transitions.

The course will cover many subjects including freeing ourselves from the pain or karma that we have brought from previous lives, contacting our soul’s original purpose for this lifetime, making a deeper connection with our deep inner self or soul for inner guidance in the most important decisions and direction of our life, how we can prepare for our own death, and helping others through a number of stages before, during and after death to create the easiest passage onwards.
