Online Cooking with Sea Vegetables

Sea vegetables have the highest source of minerals with 10 to 20 times more minerals than land vegetables.

Join us for an online class where you will learn more about the benefits of eating seaweeds, how to cook them, turning them into delicious dishes, snacks and how to include them into your everyday cooking.

Sea vegetables are normally bought dried, although you can collect some of them fresh along the coast as well! They are traditionally used in soups and stews to add the ‘umami’ flavour, enriching the taste of the dishes. Flat sheets of nori are used for wrapping sushi, and kelp (kombu in Japanese) adds a great flavour and better digestibility when cooking beans and pulses.

Several sea vegetables can also be cooked as a vegetable dish, such as arame and hiziki, along with other vegetables and seeds or nuts, to create delicious dishes with a different flavour!

Come and learn how to use a variety of sea vegetables to add exciting tastes and loads of health building minerals to your daily fare! Lara will be demonstrating a variety of easy recipes for you to use at home.
